U.S. planes change flight to avoid Russian fighters

Recently, the U.S. military diverted two of its aircraft over Syria to avoid a Russian fighter aircraft in the same area. The two planes had departed from a Turkish air base and were on their way to a location near the ISIL stronghold of Raqqa, a senior official stated; however, they were not able to complete that flight due to the diversion. The incident occurred within the last two days and is the first of its kind to have happened since Russia began military operations in Syria late last month.
