National Dance Day was held this past Saturday, July 28th on the National Mall. Amongst those in attendance were Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton, who showed off a few of her dance moves with various dance performers in front of a lively crowd. National Dance Day was created by Nygel Lythgoe, judge and executive producer of the hit TV show “So You Think You Can Dance.” The show is a televised dance competition which gives dancers all across the country an opportunity to showcase their skills in front of a panel of judges. Some of the more popular dance routines featured at this year’s event were the Zumba team, the local dance group Beat Ya Feet Kings, and Hip Hop Masterclass. Congresswoman Norton has been a long time advocate for healthy lifestyles, and this event encouraged both the young and the young at heart to stay physically fit, and have fun while you’re doing it.
