The D.C. Council approved a deal allowing close to $140 million in public funds to be used to build a stadium for the D.C. United soccer franchise. The facility will be built on Buzzard Point in southwest Washington, about two miles south of the Capitol. The team will need to find an additional $150 million to meet the estimated budget for the project. The stadium is to be completed in late 2017 or 2018.
